Stronger, faster, safer… the 2022 Liftathon was a huge success with over 100 participants and 19 new members of the 500 lb and 1,000 lb Clubs. This year we are refining the rules and expanding the timeline to get an even larger number of participants.
Here are the details for this year’s event:
1. Registration opened on April 1 and will remain open until testing week starting July 24. All returning Acalanes athletes can register through our TeamSnap Liftathon sign-up page here: Acalanes Liftathon Registration
2. Athletes’ lifts will be recorded and prizes awarded the week of July 24- 28 (updated). If an athlete will be gone that week they can request to be recorded earlier in the Summer.
3. The cost for registration is $20. Everyone who registers will receive an Acalanes Strong t-shirt and be eligible to join the 500 lb and 1,000 lb clubs (more on that later).
4. Participants will compete in three lifts, Bench Press, Back Squat, and Deadlift, for three rep maxes. An Olympic clean can be substituted for any of the three above lifts.
5. Participants will compete by sport, and by position (available for certain sports). For example, Girls Varsity and JV Volleyball and Boys Varsity and JV Basketball, would each have a competitive group. For Football, there will be six different groups, Varsity Linemen, Varsity Backs, Varsity Receivers, and those same breakouts for JV.
6. Any group that has at least five registered participants will award a $50 gift certificate to the winner. Winners will be determined by the highest three-rep total for all three lifts.
7. Any athlete whose three rep, three lift weight total is over 500 lbs for female athletes, and 1,000 lbs for male athletes, will receive a special edition 500 or 1,000 lb t-shirt and be featured on the weight room bulletin board.
8. Instruction and weight room access will be organized by each team over the Spring and Summer. If your team does not have a set weight room time, please reach out to your coach or our trainer, Chris Clark, for the weight room schedule. Many teams welcome additional athletes to their weight room times.
