Acalanes Softball Fly Past Eagles for 13-3 Win

A little bit of rain did not slow the Acalanes Varsity Softball Dons as they defeated Berean Christian Eagles 13-3 on Monday thanks to a timely ten runs in a big third inning.  This was the second time the Dons were able to defeat Berean Christian this season as they continue to build momentum as they head into the last part of the season.   

In the bottom of the second inning, the Dons took the lead by scoring their first run on a triple by Sophia Alvarado who smashed a ball down the right field line to score Maya Shoenhair.

After a bit of a slow start offensively, the Dons exploded to put up ten runs in the third inning.  The big inning was driven by singles by Shoenhair, Emmi Cronin, and Tess Gundacker, along with walks by Lulu Levy, Nicole Parlett and Esa Orman, and a double by Emme Young.

Shoenhair got the start for Acalanes Varsity Dons. The righthander allowed just one hit and held the Eagles scoreless over the first three innings.  Lana Cerejo closed out the game for the final two innings, highlighted by 3 strikeouts.  

On Defense, Acalanes didn’t commit a single error in the field.  Hailey Stripling had seven chances in the field, the most on the team that also included a key double play in the second inning.  Avery Robb played 3B and made several plays defensively.  

Acalanes had 11 total hits in the game while also walking 8 times, Young and Cronin all had multiple hits while Stripling and Young each scored 3 runs to lead the team.   The Dons tore up the base paths with 6 stolen bases as Young led the way with three.

To end the game, Lauren Foster lined a single to right field to bring in Stripling to go up by 10 runs in the 5th inning to end the game.

The Dons host Las Lomas at Home on Thursday, May 4th at 4:00 in one of the biggest games of the season.   Come out and support the team.  Go Dons!
