‘Two’ Much with Orman and Dons have No-Hitter against the Jets, a 15 to 2 Victory!

Before we get to the two homeruns by Esa Orman, let’s talk about the no hitter! The Dons’s two pitchers, Lana Cerejo and Maya Shoenhair didn’t allow a single hit, as the Dons defeated the Encinal Jets 15-2 on Friday. With these two on the mound and a strong defense in the field the Jets were grounded for take-off in this  Friday evening game.

Cerejo and Shoenhair: Together throw a not hitter for the Blue

Catcher Esa Orman aka ‘Oh Yeah! Orman’ had an ‘O’-mazing game! She led the Dons to victory by driving in five runs.  Orman went 3-for-4 at the plate.  Orman drove in 5 runs with her home-runS (yes that is plural) not one but twice in the third and fifth with balls flying over the fence. Two Homeruns in one game does not happen too often on any softball or baseball field.  We hope her parents took her out to dinner or got her a puppy. Right?!  Oh Yeah! Orman!

Oh Yeah! Orman!!! Orman hit two homeruns for the Dons.

Encinal did get on the scoreboard in the second inning due to an error, but after that it was ‘Go Dons!’ The Dons pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third Orman homered on the first pitch of the at bat, a laser just past the left field foul pole, scoring two runs.  The scoring continued with 4 runs in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th on Orman’s second HR and the Dons put four runs across in the final sixth inning.  The Dons’s big move on the bases were led by walks by Sophia Alvarado and Nicole Parlett, with singles by Emme Young and Tess Gundacker. The Dons tallied nine hits for the game as Young and Orman managed multiple hits for the Dons while Hailey Stripling led the team with 4 runs scored.

Lana Cerejo started in the pitcher’s circle for the Dons. The hurler allowed zero hits and two runs over four innings, striking out one and walking one.  Then Maya Shoenhair closed the game, pitching the final 2 innings, not allowing any runs or hits, while also striking out 1.

Defensively the Dons did what they do best, which is make outs. Stripling, Emmi Cronin, Avery Robb and Gundacker took care of the infield and Lulu Levy, Young, Alvarado and Parlett kept the outfield free from hits. It’s teamwork at its best- it was DONtastic!

Dons travel on Tuesday to play Deer Valley.
