After a 1-0 win earlier in the month, the Dons completed the sweep and defeated the Cougars 3-0 on Tuesday night at Campolindo.
On a cold night in Moraga, Acalanes started the game fast and aggressive, attacking the Cougars defense early in the first half. Just two minutes into the game Dani Green intercepted a goal kick and the ball deflected towards Elodie Jensen who won possession and passed through the Campo defenders to Livi Foster who shot and scored for the first goal of the game.
The Dons offense kept the Cougars on their heels throughout the first half with multiple shots on goal. Jensen and Sisi Houston had great feeds to Foster with shots saved by the Campo goalie. Houston also had a run and shot on goal that was stopped at the last second.
The second half opened with a brilliant through ball from Zoya Acuna to Green who fired the shot past the Campo goalie to bring the score to 2-0 in favor of the Dons. Minutes later a repeat of the same play but this time from Lily Polkinhorn to Green and the Dons were in control at 3-0.
Acuna, Polkinhorn and Jensen controlled the middle of the field and the Dons defense of Sofia Cerruti, Katelyn Weiss, Edie Berzansky, Mollie Schofield and Alana Brinkman, as well as strong goalie play once again from Sophie Gold and Sara Tarnai, kept the Cougars off the scoreboard.
Acalanes is 13-2-4 on the season, outscoring opponents 60-7. The Dons are in the hunt for a league championship at 6-1-3 in DFAL play and wrap up the season at Las Lomas and then their final home game on Tuesday against Clayton Valley.
