Acalanes girls varsity soccer won its second league game of the week, beating Alhambra 2-0. Despite lots of pressure by Acalanes and most of the action taking place in the Alhambra side of the field, the score at halftime was 0-0. That changed five minutes into the second half when senior Addie Bailey punched in a goal with her left foot off a center cross by senior Jacque Peacock. Senior Emmi Cronin added the second Dons goal 20 minutes later with a beautiful header off of senior Camryn Salazar’s well placed corner kick. Salazar has been a workhorse for the Dons, playing every minute of every league game at the holding mid position. The defense led by sophomore goalie Melisa Adatepe shut down Alhambra and recorded its 12th shutout of the season.
The win improves Acalanes’ league record to 4 wins, 1 loss, and 4 ties (8-1-5 overall). Join the Dons at home on Saturday at 7pm as they take on Miramonte for Senior Night celebrating with the Senior Night ceremony taking place at 6:15/6:30, directly after the Frosh boys’ game.
