It was all smiles and pageantry on senior night as the Acalanes seniors and their parents took center stage in celebrating our 12 seniors: Addie Bailey, Alexa Malinovsky, Camryn Salazar, Catherine Judson, Chloe Quintella, Emma Hunt, Emmi Cronin, Gianna Intagliata, Jacque Peacock, Kendal Geddes, Tatum Zuber, and Taylor Carlin. With a Senior starting lineup against the Miramonte Matadors, injured Emma Hunt took the ceremonial kick off and the Dons put up a show for the large celebratory crowd. With early shot-on goal opportunities by Alexa, Emmi, Addie, and Taylor, the first to hit the net was Addie Bailey from a pass by Alex Salazar. Catherine Judson and the Dons defense were able to fend off Miramonte attacks to end the half 1-0.
The tide favored the Dons in the second half. In a consecutive sequence of two yellow cards and a third foul by the Matadors, Camaryn Salazar’s free kick into the box skipped the goalie’s grasp and Emmi Cronin finished off the play to make it 2-0. A handball in the 18, led to a penalty kick by Tatum Zuber. Her shot deflected off the goalie’s hands and spun into the net to make it 3-0. As the team cheered with the entrance of Kendall Geddes with 21 minutes to play, Addie Bailey took on four defenders and sent a dagger into the upper right post to make it a 4-0 rout.
The Dons take a 4-0 win streak and a resurgent offense into a big game matchup against Campolindo on Tuesday with hopes of taking the Diablo Foothill Title. Support the Dons on the road at Campo on Tuesday, January 31st at 7pm!
