Girls Water Polo Come in First at Amanda MacDonald Menlo Park Tournament

Girls varsity water polo had a successful weekend in Menlo at the Amanda MacDonald Tournament, winning first in the two day tournament. It was busy as the Dons added four wins to their season record before facing Miramonte later this week.

Friday, the Dons played two games in the afternoon to advance to the semi-finals. In the first game, the Dons defeated Presentation High School 15-2. They went on to play Archbishop Mitty for the second game, which they won 11-1. Saturday Dons returned to the pool to play St. Ignatius winning again 9-3 with one goal by goal keeper Audrey Cox at half time buzzer. Addie Dankworth makes her 5 meter shot while Ella Del Rosario battled every play to make steals and shots. The final game against Menlo for the tournament win 11-5, Dons the champs. Some beautiful passing plays by Wendy Heffelfinger to Brooklyn Plomp and then to Maizie O’Hare for the finish. Lefty Sara Archer with some amazing goals along with Alexa Carter starting with a backhand shot and quickly regrouping to get better eye on the net. Sophie Hendrickson played hard with a goal from her as well. The Sarah’s rocked it too, Sarah McCarthy and Sarah Potter both with goals this weekend and played hard for the wins.
