The boys and girls cross country team had their first taste of racing in 2022 as they held their annual team time trial in the Briones Open Space. The 2.22 mile course is a difficult, hilly, and mixed surface course that is meant to prepare the team for the upcoming season.
The boys were led by Junior Logan Farzan, with a time of 12:12, an average pace of 5:30 per mile on the hilly course. Sophomore TJ Cronin followed in Farzan’s footsteps, running 13:24, one second faster than Farzan did his Sophomore year. Senior Zach Snyder improved his time by 51 seconds from last year with a time of 14:06. Newcomer to cross country, Junior Ben Brekke ran a time of 14:20, and sophomore Nathan Joseph rounded out the top 5 with a 14:41. Senior, Tyler Hunt, who was an All-NCS runner in 2021 “jogged” the course in 15:00 as he comes back from injury. The fastest freshman of the day was Finlay Fisher with a time of 15:01.
The girls were led by Junior, Megan Yee, with a time of 14:45, finishing 6th overall in the mixed gender time trial. Freshman Neve Murphy followed in 15:31, now the #5 all-time result. Right behind Murphy was another outstanding performance by Cate McCormick in 15:36. Sophomore, Cameron Powell, and Junior, Nina Gehrig, paced each other to new personal best times on the course at 16:22 and 16:25. The top seven were rounded out by Sophomore, Charlotte Sutherland, in 17:53 and Junior, Ruby Deeming, in 19:10.
