Hello Track Team,
Believe it or not, there is still at least one more week of track for our NCS qualifiers! This week, a small group of our students will compete in the NCS Meet of Champions at Dublin High School. In the state of California, Track and Field does not have divisions, and for our small school, it is a huge accomplishment for each and every one of these athletes to make it to this stage – for those of you new to track, making it this far is the equivalent of qualifying for the open division semifinals of a team sport. The top 8 finishers this Friday will move on to the NCS MOC Finals on Saturday, where the top 3 competitors will be rewarded with a trip to the California State meet.
Congratulations to:
- Paul Kuhner, your NCS Tri-Valley 100m Champion
- Carly Harriman & Dulci Vail, who took second in the High Jump
- Haley Chelemedos, High Jump
- Portia Seymour, High Jump (with a huge PR of 5 feet!)
- Natalie Lyons, Long Jump
- Lauren Yee, 800m (making her return after 2 years of the pandemic)
- Megan Yee, 800m (with a PR of 2:21.49)
- Kyle Bielawski, 100m (with a PR of 11.01)
- Trevor Rogers, Long Jump (second place) and High Jump
- Evan Malmquist, 110 Hurdles and Long Jump
- Josh Gohres, 300 Hurdles
- Paul Kuhner, Logan Farzan, Michael Kuhner, and Tyler Hunt in the boys 4x400m – Video here: https://vimeo.com/710611533
Also, congratulations to Cameron Powell (800m), Jack Dunne (110 Hurdles), and Jack Bayless (Pole Vault), who did not move on but ended their seasons with PRs. For those wondering, our first seeded boys 4×100 ended their season tragically with a dropped baton. They’ll be back next year.
Info about summer track to be posted next week.
