Girls’ Varsity Basketball Wins NCS D2 Title

The Lady Dons won the NCS D2 Title Friday night in front of an amazing and spirited home crowd by a score of 57 to 37.  The girls dominated from the start with full court pressure and pace Northgate couldn’t handle.  The lead was 17 to 3 at the end of 1st quarter and 28 to 10 at the half.  Freshmen Sophie Chinn absolutely exploded in the first half with 20 points and endless steals.  The rest of the game was rather chippy, as Northgate’s senior heavy team did their best to try to keep pace and make the game more physical. They never were able to get in striking distance, however, as the Lady Dons cruised to victory.  Sophie Chinn continued her absolute dominant playoff run with 31 points, 13 rebounds and 6 steals.  This was while Sophie guarded Northgate’s best player all night.  Fellow freshmen Karyss Lacanlale had 8 points and Dulci Vail scored 6.  Natalie Lyons added 5, while Emily Du and Natalie Frechman scored 4 each.  The girls now move on to State with games starting Tuesday.
