JV Hoops: Dons Back On Track With Win Over Arroyo

Acalanes used a 10-0 run to start the 4th quarter to pull away from a scrappy Arroyo team for a 46-41 victory.

The game was close throughout, with Acalanes trailing by a few points most of the way. Arroyo was effective driving to the basket and on the offensive boards. However, Ian Salmon’s offensive spark kept the Dons in the game in the first half, where they trailed 22-18 at the break.

The 4th quarter was where Acalanes shined, with a bunch of teammates showing clutch play. In a great sequence to start the quarter with ten straight points, Liam Krackeler had a 3-pointer and a steal, Conor Hession hit a free throw, JB Frolich connected on two jumpers, and Matthew Bacon hit a lefty layup.

Then in the closing minutes, it was the Freshmen frontcourt mates who locked down the win. Joe Reidenbach assisted Jaden McClane on a nifty layup, then scored from the free throw stripe, and iced the game with one more layup off a Liam Krackeler steal.

Ian Salmon led the Dons with 10 points and Joe Reidenbach added 8. And in an even scoring effort, the following players had between 4 and 6 points– Trevor Carillo, JB Frolich, Liam Gallacher, Liam Krackeler, and Jaden McClane.

Jaden McClane had a monser game on the boards with 15 rebounds, and Joe Reidenbach snagged another 10. Jaden also had 5 block shots.
