Girls Basketball Falls Short of School Record 20 Wins

The Lady Dons fell short going for a school record 20 wins in a row Wednesday night on the road at Alhambra by a score of 55 to 47.  It was the 3rd straight game the girls were short-handed because protocols, and it became too much to overcome not having PG and team leader KK Lacanlale.  Moreover, the girls were coming off an emotional victory the evening before over Northgate where they wrapped up the League Title.  Despite the obstacles above and foul trouble, the girls fought to the end and never gave up.  After a back and forth start, the Lady Dons found themselves trailing for much of the first half and went into halftime down 9.  The girls came out of the half hot, and tied the game in the 3rd.  With 4 minutes left the Dons were up 2, but simply could not finish the deal.  The silver lining is the loss likely keeps the girls out of the NCS Open Division.  A win Friday night should allow the girls to get the #1 seed for NCS D2.  Emily Du and Jenna Steele scored 11 poined, while Natalie Frechman added 10.
