Girls Varsity Soccer had another lopsided win over Ygnacio Valley High School on Tuesday evening that ended when the lights went out with just over 10 minutes left in the game. The Dons’ offense got rolling when senior Natalie Means scored from the left side of the box. The next score for the Dons came from junior Tatum Zuber, assisted by Means. The Dons scored again when Zuber sent a nice corner kick into the box that deflected off the goalie to senior Ella Johnston who put it in the back of the net. The halftime score was 3-0 in favor of the Dons.
The scoring didn’t stop there though. Coming out of halftime, Zuber scored her second goal of the match, this time assisted by fellow junior Addie Bailey. Then Means scored again, the sixth goal of the match, assisted by Johnston. Freshman Taylor Mikalis also scored, assisted by Bailey. The seventh goal of the match was scored unassisted by senior Lauren Yee. Junior Taylor Carlin found the back of the net on the final goal of the night, assisted by Yee. The defense held strong throughout the match with goalkeeper Melisa Adatepe earning a shutout. We will never know if the Dons would have kept scoring during the last 10 minutes or just worked on possession and passing because the lights went out and the game was called early when the lights never came back on. The final score was 8-0 in favor of the Dons.
Girls JV also had a dominant performance against the Ygnacio JV squad in a 5-0 victory. Goals were scored by junior Gianna Intagliata, freshman Livi Foster, freshman Reiney Fish, sophomore Grace Imrie and freshman Lucca DeBiasse.
The Dons look to finish out their regular season strong with Senior Night at home on Thursday at 7pm vs Berean Christian. Let’s go Dons!
