JV Hoops: Boys Win Another Nail Biter in “Battle of the Dons”

Acalanes faced Amador Valley in the “battle of the Dons” for the second time in a week on Thursday, this time in the consolation finals of the Dougherty Valley Holiday Tournament. In what should surprise nobody, it was another tight game that looked like it was headed to overtime– just like the first matchup and 3 other games this year.

However, Jaden McClane scored a last minute bucket on an assist from Liam Krackeler to put Acalanes ahead 43-41, and the boys held tough in the closing seconds to win by that margin.

The Acalanes front court asserted itself Thursday after a foul-plagued game the previous day. Jaden led the team with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Joe Reidenbach added 13 points and 4 rebounds. Trevor Carillo was back in action, contributing 6 points and 6 rebounds. Cooper Edelman snagged 8 boards and Mathew Bacon another 6.

Acalanes got to enjoy some rest over New Years and is back in action to start league play against Miramonte on Tuesday.
