Girls Varsity Soccer hosted Piedmont Monday night and added a 3-1 win, bringing their record to 10-1 on the season. Senior defender Sammy Hess put the first goal into the net from the far right side of the box, assisted by junior Addie Bailey. The Dons added another goal with just over seven minutes left in the first half when senior Natalie Means scored off of a nice through ball from junior Sophi MacKay. The Dons were playing strong as they went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Surprisingly, the Dons came out of the halftime break a bit flat, lacking the cohesion they had displayed in the first half, and allowed the Highlanders to score which cut the lead to a single goal. Fortunately, Means was able to score again with just over 13 minutes left in the game, assisted by junior Cam Salazar, to bring the score to 3-1, which would be the final of the night.
The JV Girls had the same result and score as the Varsity squad tonight. Freshman Sienna Houston scored two for the Dons and sophomore Megan Yee scored one, assisted by freshman Lucca DeBiasse. Sophomores Zoya Acuna and Grace Imrie stepped up for the back line throughout the match.
The Dons are looking forward to hosting Benicia High School on Thursday at 7pm for Varsity and 5pm for JV. The Dons will also host El Cerrito on Saturday at 6pm, JV at 4pm. The Frosh team will play two home games on Saturday, Campo at 9am and Las Lomas at 1:30pm. Go Dons!
