JV Hoops: Boys Split Games This Weekend

JV Boys ended their fall semester with a win on the road at Concord High and a loss to Fremont’s Washington High School in Lafayette.

On Friday, the Dons ran away from Concord 71-36 in their most lopsided game of the season. After a 12-11 start, Acalanes went on a 27-2 run to blow the game wide open and take a 39-13 lead. Leaning on their strong inside game the Dons never looked back from there.

Joe Reidenbach led the way with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Jaden McClane was right there with him with 15 points and 5 rebounds of his own. Trevor Carillo and Cooper Edelman added 8 points each and snagged 8 rebounds between them to round out the Dons dominance in the paint.

On Saturday, the Dons lost a tough game to Washington 64-50. Acalanes faced a 20-12 deficit at the end of the first quarter, and were unable to handle Washington’s press defense and pick-and-roll offense. Despite making some valiant 2nd half runs, the Dons couldn’t close the gap to less than 7 points before Washington pulled away with excellent foul shooting in the last few minutes.

Joe Reidenbach scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the Dons, while his front court mate Jaden McClane had 10 points and 10 rebounds . Liam Krackeler added 10 points, all from the free throw line and 3 point arc.
