Welcome Bill Powers as new Boys Varsity Basketball Coach

The Acalanes community welcomes Coach Bill Powers, who has agreed to lead the Dons’ boys basketball program! Coach Powers team had 30+ years of experience coaching basketball and has been teaching for 29 years. He is currently a social sciences teacher at Monte Vista High School. He coached at Acalanes in 2013-2014 and is thrilled to be back in blue. His coaching philosophy extends beyond strategy on the court to include an emphasis on character and the mental aspects of competition and being a great teammate.

Open Gym sessions for all interested players:

Wednesday 10/27 3:30 — 5:15pm

Saturday 10/30 8:30 — 10:00am

Weight-training for All Players will be held:

Tuesday 10/26 3:30 — 4:30pm

Thursday 10/28 3:30 — 4:30pm

Tryouts will be held November 1-3:

Varsity  3:30-5:30pm

JV  5:30-7:30pm

Freshman  7:30-9:00pm

Fall athletes who have a conflict with the tryout dates can participate in the second round of tryouts on November 8. If the athletes are still competing in fall sports at that time, the basketball staff will be flexible and make sure every player gets a chance to be evaluated.
