Following disappointing losses to Davis and cross-town rival Campolindo at the Acalanes Invitational, the Acalanes Girls Varsity Water Polo Team hosted the Monte Vista girls Tuesday. Acalanes got off to a fast start, ending the 1st period at 4-1. Monte Vista kept the game close in the 2nd and 3rd periods, each team scoring 2 goals in each period for an 8-5 Acalanes lead going into the 4th. Acalanes blew the game open in the 4th, scoring six goals to Monte Vista’s 3, for a final score of 14-8 for our Dons.

Highlights of the game: Junior Audrey Cox continues her stellar play at goal with 6 saves, keeping the Dons in the game. Scoring was rounded out by seniors Heidi Heffelfinger (future Harvard star!) who had had a game high of 5 goals with fellow Senior (AHS Student Body President) Frannie Daughters (3); followed by Sarah Archer (J) – 2 goals; Olivia Williams (S) – 2 goals; and Sarah Potter (J) and Wendy Heffelfinger (S) each with 1 goal.
