Dons Girls Volleyball Season Preview: Campo Tonight!

All home matches streaming live (and free) on YouTube

Dons Girls Volleyball is finally back.  The program is coming off a historic season way back in the Fall of 2019, when they finished in 2nd place in the NCS Division III, and qualified for the CIF State playoffs.  Although there are no playoffs this year, coaches Haley Glass, Alan Go and Roman Seguerre are ready to kick off another successful campaign tonight (JV 6:00pm, Varsity 7:30pm) versus the always-tough Campolindo Cougars.

The athletes have been preparing for this day for months.  They practiced outdoors, in the elements, for most of the offseason while doing their best to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols.  The incredibly dedicated coaching staff kept the girls focused and engaged, despite no guarantees of an actual season.  So, after a long period of uncertainty, a great deal of patience, and various other challenges, 51 Dons are absolutely ready to suit up this week and play for each other and their school.

The Dons have 10 matches scheduled in this abbreviated season, and with the returning depth and talented newcomers, expectations are high.  The Varsity Dons feature a whopping 11 seniors on the roster, and that experience will help steer the ship in 2021.  Five solid juniors and two sophomores round out the team.  On JV, 13 sophomores are supported by four freshman, and that group has shown some serious skills in practice, giving the Varsity girls a run for their money in a few scrimmages.  The freshman team is made up of 16 talented new players, and the future of the program is extremely bright.

At the outset, in-person attendance at matches is limited to 2 guests per player’s immediate household, but that cannot stop Dons Nation from following along!  Home matches for Varsity, JV and Frosh will all be streamed live on YouTube at no charge on Alan Go’s channel.  Click link below, (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYhHACbdR2Z0eJq0wN5yuEQ) or search on YouTube:  Alan Go-Acalanes

For schedule, rosters and program information, the Lafayette Girls Volleyball Association (LGVA) website is a great resource:  https://sites.google.com/view/acalanesvolleyball/home?authuser=0 . These Dons appreciate the support of the Acalanes Boosters and the LGVA for their unwavering support!

The girls seriously miss the days of playing in front of a gym packed with their friends and classmates, but they still appreciate all the LOVE from The Nation. GO DONS!
