Varsity Girls Soccer Squeaks a Win Against Las Lomas

On Friday night, the Dons faced off against league opponent, Las Lomas. Las Lomas has always been a tough team, but this year they have had mixed results. But that is how this league is…on any given day, any team can beat anyone!

The first half was very evenly matched. Each team had several shots on goal and were connecting their passes. The end of the first half resulted in no score.

To start the second half, the Dons came out with high intensity, pressuring the defense with a few chances to score in the first minutes. Freshman Tatum Zuber lobbed a beautiful ball to fellow Freshman Addie Bailey in the middle and Addie was able to squeak the ball by the goalkeeper to give the Dons a 1-0 lead with 35 minutes remaining in the game.

The Dons seemed to lose their momentum and were playing on their heels as the Knights kept putting pressure on our defense. But the Dons held tough to keep the win. Goalkeeper, Kate Carter, made some spectacular saves to keep the Knights at bay. Aliye Wingate and Dylan Hagglund were superb on defense. Ivy Souza and Eliza Parry also played well in the win.

Next up for the Dons will be on Monday night at 7pm at Campo for their final matchup of the season.

Go DONS!
