Women’s Varsity Soccer Beats Piedmont 3-1

The Women’s Varsity Soccer team played their first game of the season against a very strong Piedmont team on Tuesday night. Freshman Tatum Zuber, in her debut as a Varsity Don, scored the first goal off a nice touch pass from Senior Natasha Malinovsky within minutes of the start of the game with a strong shot into the upper right corner of the net to take the lead 1-0.

Natasha Malinovsky was able to gain possession of the ball from a defender and then proceeded to dribble through 2 players in front of the goal to sneak the ball past the goalie around the 20-minute mark to build the lead to 2-0.

In the second half, the Dons came out a little sluggish. D1 commit Cece Brien of Piedmont was able to muscle a goal at the beginning of the second half to cut the lead 2-1. The Dons were able to get things going again with some excellent passing and tough defense. Senior Captain Ivy Souza found Junior Emily Keeler on the right sideline and Emily proceeded to make an incredible shot in the upper left corner of the goal to make the score 3-1.

This team is deep. Excellent play all around. Senior Gabby Ortale, Junior Sami Hansen, and Freshman Chloe Quintella all played outstanding. The Dons will travel to Hayward on Friday night.
