It was a good night to be a Don, beating Campo 11-5 in the Varsity game and 11-4 in the JV game to complete to 4-0 regular season sweep.
Lots of referee whistles kept the players out of sync early, but great play in goal by Ava Donleavy kept Campo scoreless in the first quarter and Jewel Roemer scored twice to get the lead we would not lose.
As the game progressed, The Dons kept chipping away at Campo and smothering them with defense. By the end of the 11-5 win, Roemer had scored 6 times, Alana McCarthy and Brooke Westphal twice and Mary Beth Heffelfinger once. Ava Donleavy blocked 5 critical shots to again send the cougars home frustrated.
Equally frustrated was the cougar JV team. Right from the start the Dons took command, with goals from Daylor Williams (1) and Sara Archer (2). Jordan Hagglund and Sarah McCarthy were stellar on the other end of the pool, leading the team in defense.
By the end of the 11-4 win, Alexa Carter had 3 goals, Sarah Potter and Sara Archer 2 each, and Abby Montaqulia and Shayna Parker 1. Audrey Cox again proved stingy in goal, with many key blocks.
Varsity has now stretched to 15-0 and JV 16-2. Next games are Wednesday October 23 at Miramonte. Go Dons!
