This past weekend our JV girls traveled to Modesto for the Western States Championship … and brought home the GOLD! In what can be only described as signature Dons defense, they showed everyone just how deep this program is.
Game one was a blowout victory, 17-4, over Pitman. Jordan Hagglund led the team with 4 goals with a total of 12 other teammates scoring along the way. Game two was a little bit closer … but not much, with the Dons beating Tamalpias 11-2. Leading scorer Sarah Potter had 4 goals followed by Daylor Williams and Lauren Kuo with 2 each.
The next day opened with a tough loss to Davis 4-6, with Alexa Carter netting 2 for the Dons. Fortunately Davis lost to Ripon and the Dons found themselves in the finals against … Ripon. Suffocating defense won the day with the Dons prevailing 5-3. Sarah Archer had 2 goals, Maizie O’Hare and Alexa Carter 1 each.
Throughout the weekend Audrey Cox was a beast at goalie. Says coach Chris Lanier “Audrey was a game changer … in every game.”
The Lady Dons JV Water Polo Squad now sits at 15-2 and faces Campolindo this Wednesday at Acalanes. Come see JV at 4 and Varsity at 5.
