It was a tough night in Moraga for YOUR JV team.  Campo got out to an early lead as the Dons struggled from the start against a strong Cougar defense. Emma Johnson had a tip to the middle for a nice warm Campo campfire.  Maya Paul had a beauty block that was another bright spot. However before we knew it, Dons were down 7-16.  Rachel Zhang started to turn things around with a nice serving run and two aces. Alara Rose killed it with a smack to the back line, and Dons are fired up! Score now 16-21.  A Carly Coffee perfect pass to Mara Korzeniowska for the butter set ending in a Hannah Hageboeck kill helped the Dons along.  Then Johnson had a HUGE  kill to make it 20-23. The Dons showed some scrappy play, featuring a nifty Gianna Manzone save.  Zhang also dove for a pancake to keep the ball in play.  It was a nice all around effort, but not enough to keep the Dons from falling 23-25.

The second set was equally as challenging. The Cougars offense was coming alive and Dons defense was inconsistent .. with one shank after another. Tate Huisingh and Kira Wood got things moving with some of their great jump serves. Coffee and Huisingh, the defensive duo, played really well in the back row together getting digs and saves. Johnson and Hageboeck each had kills to keep the Dons in it for awhile. However, the momentum was with Campo.  The Dons, who couldn’t seem to get anything going, dropped the set 15-25.  Last JV game is tomorrow night at Northgate.  Let’s go Dons .. end it with a bang!
