Your Acalanes Dons JV volleyball team traveled to Heritage High School in Brentwood last weekend for the East County Tournament. The Dons have been plagued by injuries and illnesses over the first few weeks of season, but that did not stop them from taking care of Gregori High in two sets in the first match up of the day. The Dons then fell to Amador High, but not without a strong offensive effort, featuring kills from Hannah Hageboeck, Emma Johnson and Tate Huisingh. The 3rd match, against a very strong San Ramon Valley team, was the highlight of the day.  San Ramon went on to win the tournament, with only set loss of the day…to the Dons.  Stellar defense, led by Kira Wood and Carly Coffee, kept the Dons in the battle. The last match was an easy win over the home team Heritage Patriots in two straight sets. Hageboeck started the 2nd set strong with a 6 point serving run.  Some great digs by Chloe Wu and and kills by Huisingh and Johnson gave Dons an easy victory to end the day. Next tourney on September 21st in Sonoma.
