The Freshman team won a hard-fought two-setter last Tuesday night with great serving. In the first game, the Dons fought hard with points going back and forth. Rachel Zhang, Aysha Craig, and Claudia Lindgren won service points to even the score early at 3-3. Great digs by libero Brooke Palma, and three consecutive aces by setter Natalie Marsh raised the score to 8-7. A see-saw battle ensured, with an ace by Kira Wood and a key block by middle blocker Claudia tying the game 22-22. Parker Delaney came in to serve out the last three points! First set to the Dons 25- 23.
In Game 2, Las Lomas took off into the lead. A great set by Natalie resulted in a deep winner by Parker. Kira serves, Las Lomas fights back and on return Sammy Hess delivers a dink winner, point to the Dons! 3-5. Rachel set to Claudia who gets another kill, 5-6. Bella Caipo returns a wicked Las Lomas serve to give the Dons a 10-8 lead. Back and forth, edge of your seat points. Great serves by Sarah Haines and Gianna Manzone and the Dons start to pull away, 19-16. Natalie served deep leading to a free ball, with an assist from Kira to Claudia who slammed one down for a 21-17 lead. Natalie steps up and serves 3 aces for the win! Dons Win 25-17.
