It’s Trojan Conquest time as YOUR Acalanes Dons Girls Volleyball Team travels to Castro Valley High for Match #3 of the season (2-0).

 

First Set:

2-1:      Elsa Clever fires an Ace as we get started.

4-3:      Great dig by Erin Meade leads to a Madi Risch kill.

6-4:      Cailey McVay. Ace!

7-4:      See above!

8-5:      Sweet Rachel Go set to Clever in the middle for a crushing kill.

9-6:      Roxy Cummings gets her first playtime and first kill of the year. Yeah Rox!

10-9:    Nice Parker Jung pass after a short Trojan run. Clever finishes it with another kill.

11s:     Hayes Hollar kills one as the Dons are struggling to find their rhythm.

12-11:  Annika Olson joins the party with a kill…good Dons ball distribution.

14s:     Long rally. Go sets Meade for a kill to tie it back up.

15-19:  Dons timeout after a big Trojan counter-attack.

21-23:  Dons fight furiously to come back. Risch kill and then timeout Trojans…

22-25:  …but the Dons drop the first set.

 

Second Set:

 

2-1:      Clever with a “beach punch” winner to the back line. Say what bro?

5-3:      Risch rips one down the line. Winner.

7-3:      Risch. Ace. Yes

8-3:      Double digs from Cummings. Olson finishes it.

10-3:    Risch Ace again. Separation by the Dons. Timeout Trojans.

11-3:    Olsoooooon! Rooooooof!

14-6:    C&H Roofing Company with a stuff (Clever & Hollar)

18-14:  Risch kill after another big Castro Valley rally.

19-17:  Olson punch kill.

20-17:  Awesome Go dig to save the point.

22-18:  McVay Ace! So timely. Timeout C.V.

23-18:  Kennedy Cornish kill in the middle to inch the Dons closer.

25-18:  Clever. Crush. Dons. Win. The. Set.

 

Third Set:

 

3-0:      Cummings kill tops off great digs from Risch and McVay.

7-1:      McVay to Lane Webster, setting up Hollar for a surgical kill.

10-6:    Another Trojan surge is stopped by Olson’s overpass kill.

13-7:    Cummings pounds a heavy-ball kill, backed up by continued great passing from Risch and McVay.

16-8:    Some jungle ball, and then a clean McVay Ace.

19-9:    Webster Ace to stretch the Dons lead.

22-13:  Clever. Ace. Yasss.

23-13:  Clever Ace. Sa-weet!

24-14:  McVay sets Hollar after the Webster dig = kill.

25-16:  Dons take the 3rd on a rocket Risch kill off the smooth Go set. G’Dons!

 

Fourth Set:

 

2-3:      Hollar “tools” the blockers for a kill.

4-3:      Full team effort to keep the ball up multiple times, and Risch rewards with a ripped angle kill.

6-7:      Olson fires a much-needed kill as the Dons are out of synch a bit.

7s:       Risch Ace ties it up.

11s:     Clever roof!

12-13:  Cummings. Nice kill.

14-16:  Timeout Dons as the Trojans are hanging tough here.

18-19: Olson punches over a left-handed winner as the Dons are hanging tough too.

19-20:  Cummings kill. Great having Rox back from the D.L.

22-24:  Hollar kills one as the Dons stave off set point.

23-24:  Risch fires a bomb to the back line as the Dons stave off set point again! T.O.C.V.

24s!:    Hollar! Kill! More staving off! And another Timeout by the Trojans.

25-24:  Great Clever serve…overpass…and Hollar absolutely crushes it! Match Point for the Dons.

26-24:  …And Cornish seals the win with a middle kill. Wow. Phew. Dons win in 4 sets.
