The Acalanes JV volleyball team strong-armed their way to another victory Thursday night, beating a tough Miramonte squad  25-19, 25-22.

The first game was off to a shaky start with the Dons down 0-3. But after a few quick connections between setter Sarah Coons and middle blocker Aly Kirke, the Dons started rolling. Libero Sydney Sowarby had a nice serving run and was supported by a powerful offense led by hitters Makenzie Sauer, Tate Huisingh, Lyla Cox and Lauren Davis. 

Miramonte hung tight with Acalanes in the second game, but a decisive roof from middle blocker Kylie Wood at 6-6 coupled with her monster kill off a great quick set at 15-12 helped give the Dons a bit of breathing room. Makenzie came up with a kill when the Dons needed it most to get the score to 19-18, Lauren and Aly teamed up for a crucial block at 24-20 and Tate closed the deal with a screamer down the line for a final score of 25-22.
