Everybody contributed in the Don’s scrimmage on Saturday night, proving that this year’s team is both talented and deep across the board. Although the scrimmage rules don’t really give a great look at how the team will perform in actual game situations, it did give the boys a chance to get some fully padded competition against someone other than their…
The Acalanes Dons JV football team kicked off their 2022 pre-season on Saturday. The team was scheduled to scrimmage multiple teams in the football equivalent of speed dating, but the contest turned into a one-on-one matchup after Vallejo backed out. The teams that remained, Acalanes and Granada, represented a rematch 10 months in the making, as the Freshman Dons suffered…
The pads went on the 2022 Freshman Dons for their final tune-up Saturday at Acalanes Stadium. In a 3-team scrimmage format the Don’s showed well against Grenada and Deer Valley. Head coach Bill Hansen had them ready to play with QB Branson Smith connecting with Isaac “Iceman” Copen to get into the endzone on the first offensive set. That capper…
Little by little, an increasing number of girls in the USA are breaking through invisible barriers of perhaps the most traditionally male-dominated sport, football. In assuming key roles kicking for their school’s football team, they’re blazing trails for the young women behind them. In 1997, Christal Cook was the first girl to play on her high school’s football team. She was…

Football is the ultimate team sport. To win, you need all the parts and pieces to work together. A great running back will only get you so far down the line. Receivers will need to think smart, fast and willing to put those points on the scoreboard, but hey…it’s not that easy. Without an offensive line working in the trenches…
With over 75 competitors representing eight different Acalanes sports, the Acalanes Liftathon Week was a great way to celebrate all the new weight room equipment and the work that our athletes have put in over the summer months. In the end, six athletes successfully completed the 3 rep, 3 lift (bench, squat, deadlift) competition with totals that reached the 500…
These boys are looking and feeling DONtastic! Over 50 freshmen are making up the fall football team this Fall for the Dons. All first timers to the tackle football. The nature of tackle football is simply more in-depth compared to flag – there are more intricate techniques, schemes and plays, a higher level of physicality, etc. And these Dons are…
Every year, there’s anticipation for what’s to come in the Fall Football season. Excitement for the players that are returning and for the players coming up, and above all, hope that the oblong sphere that they all chase will bounce in the Don’s direction more often than to their opponents. This year is no different for the Acalanes Football program.…
Welcome to the Acalanes Dons Boosters Articles for JV football! I wish I could say that I volunteered to do these write ups, but the truth is that Jane Smith “volun-told” me that I was doing this job despite the objections of many who suffered through reading my Freshman Baseball Articles this past Spring. As part of the role, Jane asked…
