Acalanes Dons Fall to Clayton Valley in Rematch

The Acalanes Dons boys’ varsity soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat against the Clayton Valley Ugly Eagles on a cold, damp Tuesday night in Clayton. The first half was a closely contested affair, with both teams displaying solid defensive play. Neither team could break the deadlock until the final two minutes of the half when the Ugly Eagles managed to find the back of the net with a well-placed mid-range shot into the left corner, giving them a 1-0 advantage going into halftime. Despite the late goal, the Dons emerged from the break with renewed energy and applied relentless pressure on the Clayton Valley defense. Their efforts paid off when Omri Noiman delivered a through ball to Ben Pecci, who outpaced the center back and calmly finished, leveling the score at 1-1. Clayton Valley responded quickly, scoring on a rebound to regain the lead at 2-1. They then extended their advantage with a third goal ten minutes later, ultimately sealing the 3-1 victory. While the Dons ultimately fell short, their midfield and forward play were bright spots in the match. Man of the Match goes to Ben Pecci.
