Freshman Football Closes the Season with a Resounding 50-10 Win over Campo

Acalanes vs. Campolindo, Oct 31

The set-up was perfect. Last game of the season. Cross town rivals. Halloween eve. Did not turn out to be that scary, for the Dons, who came away with a big win of 50-10.

Coach Hansen sent out his entire offensive line (Sean Tandler (55) Kyle Sanftner (56), Matei Bolata (60), Grady Branagh (76), Graham Welton (78), Joe Wilson (51))  to stand in as captains for this final matchup. Tells you all you need to know about how he feels this unit has operated this season. And looking at the score they delivered all the “scary”.

Let’s get to all this scoring. QB Colton Whalen-Schlosser (9) threw for three TDs. Two to Treysen Roberts (11), both for an impressive 25 yards. He also connected with Nick Zagorov (5) for one. QB Colton Whalen-Schlosser (9) carried the ball nine times, two were on successful two point conversions, one was for 30 yards and nearly a TD.

It was also a successful night on the ground. Joaquin Bordi (22) had 11 carries, one for a TD. Miles Moore (25) had a strong showing with nine carries, with one of those being for six. Sean Tandler (55) ran in for a two point conversion and Pedro Sakaguti (83) also punched into the end zone for six.

Let’s not forget the defense, they did their job holding Campo to only 10. Alec Schwartz (17) had a great interception (as if there is any other kind), as did Dax Vail (42). Vail (42) came away with six on his INT. The boys in the backfield also put their mark on this game. Mason Andersen (21), Dylan Icay (18), Maxim Volpian (1) all broke up passes. Marco Long (19) had a TD saving tackle.

The D-line also showed up. Brandon Simmons (45) came away with a sack on the night. He along with Tandler (55) and Sanftner (56) put relentless pressure on the QB. Tandler (55) also had the special teams play of the night with a blocked punt.

Overall, a great 6-4 season, with two of those losses only decided by two points or less.
