Freshman Football takes Mira to the Mat, 30-16

Acalanes at Miramonte, Oct 10

Our Dons made the long drive to Miramonte, and came up with another “W”, out scoring the Mats 30-16. The playbook this week looked very similar to last week, and another great team effort.

Treysen Roberts (11), had another standout game, perfecting the wildcat formation. Roberts (11) had 12 carries and two receptions, one of those receptions being a catch and run for 60 yards. He had record setting four touchdowns (beating the record he set last week at three) and he had one two point conversion, just for fun. Roberts got great blocks again this week from the  O-line, Matei Bolata (60), had some remarkable blocks.

Nate Lederman (7) returned in the QB spot, a successful outing, connecting for passes with: Brayden Hattersley (44), Nick Zagorov (5), Treysen Roberts (11), Joaquin Bordi (22), Finn Aiken (15). Lederman (7) connection with Roberts (11) resulted in a TD and he found Aiken (15) in the end zone for two. It was great to have Bordi (22) back in the line-up, had three carries, one for a two point conversion.

The Dons also set records on the defensive side of the ball. The “D” was a sacking machine. Maxim Volpian (1), Joaquin Bordi (22), Brayden Hattersley (44), Brandon Simmons (45) each recorded a sack. Brennan Visnick (89) and Kyle Sanftner (56) had two, while Sean Tandler (55) had a team record of three.

The defense also had great “overall ball awareness”, “OBA” (maybe I just invented a term, I hope so). Landon Page (34) had not one but two interceptions. He also swatted away a pass. Sean Tandler (55) and Kyle Sanftner (56) both had key fumble recoveries.

Top tackler on the night was Bordi (22) with six tackles. Tandler (55), Volpain (1) and Alec Schwarz (17) each took three Mats to the mat.

Final Score:
Acalanes 30, Miramonte 16

Treysen Roberts (11) cuts in, on one of his 12 carries on the night.
Sean Tandler (55) battles in on defense.
