Last Wednesday, Acalanes battled the Las Lomas Knights at home. The Lady Dons went right to work in the first quarter with a great pass from junior Sara Williams to junior Ella Del Rosario who sent the ball to the back of the net. Next up was junior Olivia Whipple who had a gorgeous cross-cage shot to give the Dons a 2-goal lead. The Knights got on the board before the quarter ended with a score of 2-1.
Quarter 2 started with an amazing lob by Ella Del Rosario and a great steal by sophomore goaltender Adelyn Horciza which led to a great backhand goal from sophomore Finley Graff. Freshman Lily Briones has a great steal and pass to the dynamic duo of Sara Williams to Ella Del Rosario who scored again to finish the quarter 5-1.
The third quarter was full of great defense, led by goalie Adelyn Horciza who refused to let the Knights past her with 13 saves for the night. Blocks, saves and steals was the name of this game! A few minutes in, Ella Del Rosario found the back of the net to add one more tally mark for the Dons. The most impressive shot of the night was by Sara Williams who managed to grab the rebound after it bobbled off several hands and sink the ball in the cage with a Las Lomas defender on her back! The final quarter started with a signature lob by senior Levand Koopah to bring the Dons up to 8 goals. Freshman goalie, Lucy McShane, also had some solid saves against the Knights who only scored once more before the game clock ran out. It was a solid 8-2 win for the Acalanes Dons.
What’s Up Next for the Lady Dons?
Last year, Acalanes was the only team to beat Miramonte since 2019 and they did it TWICE! The girls powered up with a pasta feed and are ready to take on the ‘24 Mats at home on Wednesday, 10/9. Get out your blue gear and head down to the pool to cheer on your Dons as they Miramonte Mats!!!
