Varsity Football Dominates Benicia 52-0

In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Acalanes Varsity Football delivered a resounding 52-0 victory against Benicia, showcasing total domination on both sides of the ball. From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, the Dons left no doubt about the outcome – scoring on nearly every offensive possession.

A Special Start
The fireworks began right from the start. Sophomore #13 Finley Rivera, electrified the crowd by returning the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, setting the tone for the night. The special teams unit continued to shine, with senior #65 Bethel Imasuen blocking a Benicia punt in the fourth quarter and returning it for a touchdown from just two yards out.

Offensive Firepower
Acalanes’ offense was nothing short of explosive. Quarterback #6, Tyler Winkles, had an outstanding night, completing 10 of 21 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns, while also contributing 31 rushing yards. He spread the ball around effectively, connecting with five different receivers, including senior star #18 Niko White, who caught four passes for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

The ground game, despite missing two starting running backs, managed to rack up 150 rushing yards. Junior #8 Marco Giorgianni, made his debut memorable with a remarkable 68-yard rushing touchdown, proving he could carry on the family legacy—his three older brothers all played for Acalanes.

Acalanes scored on seven of their eight offensive possessions, punctuating their dominance with a field goal from #42 Santi Vignoles and a 79-yard touchdown pass to 12 River Lockwood.

Defensive Dominance
The defense was equally impressive, holding Benicia to just 150 total yards and limiting their rushing game to a mere 18 yards. The defense featured multiple standout performances, including sacks by Imasuen and #37 Chris Evens, as well as a late interception by #14 Matt Schwarz.
