Flag Football Records Duel Victories over Alhambra and Concord

The Girl’s Flag Football team shined Wednesday night, winning over a veteran Alhambra team 13-6 and a determined Concord team 20-13.

The win over Alhambra saw sophomore Avery Dement fire up for 8 tackles, 2 interceptions, a touchdown reception and an extra point.  Not to be outshined by her teammate, sophomore Ines Coyne tallied 5 tackles and scored a TD on a HB option reception from running back Lily Cervenka that opened up the Don’s scoring.

On defense Eloise Greeson recorded 4 tackles and Leila Hamidi added 3 tackles and an interception (that was almost broken for a TD) .

On offense quarterback Hana Chelemedos was 15-23 for 138 yards, a TD and an extra point, and Isabelle Agnost tallied 56 yards on 11 carries and 5 receptions.

In Game 2’s win over Concord the duo of Lily Cervenka to Ines Coyne was not done, scoring a second halfback option TD on the night to open the Dons scoring.  Coyne also led the Dons with 4 tackles.

Avery Dement was not done either, returning her third interception of the night for a touchdown and the dangerous duo of Hana Chelemedos to Maya Shoehnair recorded the third and final touchdown for the night on a 28 yard touchdown pass.  Lesley Trowbridge recorded two extra point scores on the receiving end of passes from Chelemedos.

On defense, Maya Shoenhair, Mallory DeCredico and Leila Hamidi recorded two tackles each and crimped the style of the Concord offense all night long along with teammate Coyne.

On offense Isabelle Agnost had 11 rushes for 82 yards and 29 yards on 4 receptions, an impressive 111 yards of offense.  Maya Shoenhair recorded 81 yards on 5 receptions, including a great run on a 28 yards score and Hana Chelemedos went 16-28 and 173 yards with a TD pass and two extra point passes.

The offense had its best performance of the season, recording 327 yards of total offense…which is a lot of offense in a game that has two 24 minutes halves and a running clock.  The defense was very stingy, giving up only 156 yards.
