On a clear night under the Thursday night lights of Acalanes field, the Dons celebrated 8 seniors in a pregame ceremony: Collin Malmquist, James Davis, Marshall Anderson, Ben Adler, Ethan Pancoast, DJ Ahn, Nate Murphy, and Evan Banwart.
The Dons faced off against the Alhambra Bulldogs and from the outset, Acalanes set the tone for the game, dominating possession and relentlessly attacking Alhambra’s defense. Griffin Rotundo netted an impressive three goals in the first quarter and with another great shot from Simon Appel, the Dons finished the quarter 4-1.
The game got increasingly physical but Acalanes maintained their offensive strength (as well as their sportsmanship) in the second quarter with an impressive display of scoring. Caleb Mason, Marshall Anderson and Jan Korzeniowski each had 2 goals a piece in the second quarter and Simon Appel got another great shot in to end the half 11-2.
Third quarter goals from Griffin Rotundo and 2 from Simon Appel along with strong defense from DJ Ahn, Luca Premo and Collin Malmquist kept the Dons on top. In the final quarter, the Dons continued with multiple players stepping up to contribute on both ends of the field. Their defense stifled Alhambra’s offensive efforts, while their offense remained relentless. A final goal from Marshall Anderson sealed the 15-6 win over the Bulldogs.
Congrats to all the seniors and go Dons. Keep up the great work boys, you’re on a roll!
