After a week off for spring break when some teams return rusty, the Dons showed no signs of rust. The Dons traveled to Fremont and faced the Washington High Huskies Tuesday night. The game was an offensive assault for most of the night where the boys showed crisp passing and kept the ball moving at a fast clip. Marshall Anderson kicked off the offensive run with a strong goal from 20 feet out. The run continued with first quarter goals from Grant Condy, Griffin Rotundo, Jan Korzeniowski and 2 from Simon Appel. The first quarter ended 6-1 Dons.
The second quarter, the boys did not let up with 3 goals from Caleb Mason, 2 more from Griffin Rotundo and a sweet shot from Theo Milnes, his first of 3 for the night. The Dons finished the half 12-1 over the Huskies.
In the third quarter, Simon Appel scored 2 more goals and a nice strike from Alex Cortez from 15 yards out. After winning a faceoff, defensive pole Collin Malmquist scored a beautiful shot and the Dons finished the third quarter with a final goal from Henry Finegold to bring the boys to a 17-1 lead over Washington.
The fourth quarter, Theo Milnes secured his hat trick with a final 2 goals and the Dons finished the game 19-2 over the Washington Huskies. Outstanding performances from Simon Appel with 4 goals and several assists, Theo Milnes, Caleb Mason, and Griffin Rotondo scoring 3 goals a piece. And while the offense had possession for most of the night, Luke Spinelli had some nice saves standing in for injured goalie Val Grossi.
The Dons played with swagger all night and hope to take that momentum into Senior night against Alhambra on Thursday. Way to go Don. Let’s do this!
