On a chilly Friday the Dons took on the Vallejo Red Hawks in V Town. Despite the chill in the air the boys stayed red hot for the second game in a row. The defense recorded another shutout as the team rolled to a 50-0 W. The combined score over the past two games is Dons 106 Opponents 0!
The defense has been outstanding. Jack Giorgianni and Everett Glass led the squad with 7 tackles each. Jake Boselli added 5 tackles before he took over at quarterback in the 4th quarter. Deonte Littlejohn had 4 tackles and a sack and two way stars Trevor Rodgers and Paul Kuhner each had an interception in the end zone to kill Vallejo drives.
The defensive line, led by Brady Morrow, Chase Caciedos, Drew Mackenzie, Aidan Yates and Deonte were all over the field. They shut down the Red Hawk run game and applied constant pressure to the Vallejo quarterback throughout the evening. The defense finished the evening with 4 tackles for losses, 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery and a safety.
Offensively, the boys came to play. After an early interception Sully Bailey settled down and started picking the defense apart with a combination of passes and skillful runs. The 1st quarter was scoreless, but the Dons turned it on in the 2nd period. Bailey had 2 running touchdowns in the quarter and 3 for the game. He also found Paul Kuhner for a 21 yard touchdown in the first half. After a slow start the boys led 23-0 at halftime.
Sully went 13 for 18 for 188 yards passing, with 2 touchdowns. He also ran for the ball for 35 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jake Boselli came in for the 4th quarter and kept the scoring party going. Jake went 8 for 9 for 107 yards and a touchdown. Jake also was 2-2 kicking extra points. The two QBs combined to throw for 295 yards.
One of the big stories of the day was the running game. The Dons ran for a season high 186 yards. Jack Miller had an excellent game with 80 yards, followed by Deonte Littlejohn with 44 yards (he also had 62 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns) and Jack Giorgianni with 27 yards rushing and 33 yards receiving. The Acalanes offense averaged over 8 yards per rush for the day.
Trevor Rodgers led all receivers with 7 catches for 106 yards, including a 25 yard touchdown from Bailey. All told, the boys in white had 10 different players with a reception or a carry on offense as they totaled 552 all purpose yards and 25 first downs.
Santi Vignoles continued his excellent kicking going 4-4 on extra points. In two games he is now 12-12 in extra points, giving the kicking game the stability that it needed.
