The Dons shot out of the gate in their Dig Pink home match against Alhambra with early kills from Kylie Wood, Lauren Davis, and Audrey Passalacqua setting the pace behind strong serving and setting from Sarah Coons. They pushed the lead to 7-0 before Alhambra called timeout and earned their first point. The Dons made it 17-4 with libero Sydney Sowarby digging several hits and hitting a nice pipe. Middle Alara Rose contributed both blocking and with hits from setter Aisha Mohanty. Alhambra made a late run to 20-10 but a roof from Kylie turned the momentum and the Dons won the first set 25-12.
Game two was more of the same, with the offense powered by kills from Lauren, freshmen Emma Johnson and Aly Kirke, and Lyla Cox in on the right side. The DS crew of Maren Takeuchi and Daisy Sibley kept Alhambra in check, and Daisy dropped a sick backset to Tate Huisingh for a kill as well. It was a single rotation game for the Dons as they closed out the match 25-9, much to the delight of local superfan Dan Meade. Good job Dons!
