The Acalanes Softball Dons started the second half of the season coming off of spring break on the road at College Park on Tuesday afternoon. The Dons let the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-1 loss.
The Dons came out strong and took an early lead in the first as Emme Young scored from second base on an RBI single by Maya Shoenhair.
However, the Dons could not maintain the lead while facing an extremely talented squad from College Park.
The Acalanes Varsity Dons struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing College Park Varsity Falcons, giving up 12 runs. Lana Cerejo toed the rubber for the Dons. The righthander went three innings, allowing 12 runs on 11 hits and Shoenhair came in to throw one scoreless inning in relief.
As has been the case all season, Esa Orman was great behind the plate catching while there were many great defensive plays from 2B Emmi Cronin, SS Hailey Stripling, 3B Avery Robb, LF Lulu Levy, RF Lauren Foster and Sofia Alvarado who played both RF and 1B.
Young led Acalanes Varsity Dons with two hits in three at bats and stolen base while Stripling and Shoenhair had the other hits for the Dons.
The Dons look to rebound with a game at Berean Christian on Wednesday and home game against Concord High School on Thursday. Come out and see the game this Thursday at 4:30
