Acalanes JV Water Polo brought the crowd screaming to their feet Wednesday night in an exciting victory against Berkeley High who ultimately went down in defeat to the Dons 6-5. The final period was especially electrifying as both teams used every tactic at their disposal to try and bring home the win.
Turnovers, steals, passes, incredible teamwork, and strategy ruled the game as the Dons pulled together with intense spirit and toughness. Numerous assists by all players contributed to the goals scored by Hans Ramirez, Dylan Machado, Owen Hulst, and Tyler Gerhardt while Goalie Ryder Bradford-Urban played a phenomenal game with numerous blocks and excellent passing.
Notably, this was the second game of the day for Sam Whipple, Ryder Bradford-Urban, and Dylan Machado who played a fierce game of “Inner Tube Water Polo” at lunch earlier in the day as part of inter-class competition for Acalanes Homecoming Week. (Begging the question that perhaps JV Coaches Jake Norton and Ron Johnson should now consider making floating around in Inner Tubes an integral part of future Dons Water Polo training???)
Keep your eyes on this team folks, many more wins are in their future!
