Acalanes Boys Varsity Tennis Team Wins a 5-4 Nailbiter over Campolindo

The Boys’ Varsity tennis team took on Campolindo Wednesday with a full and healthy roster.  Early in the match, the Dons fell behind 1-4, but then in dramatic fashion won the last four lines resulting in an overall 5-4 victory.  The Dons avenged the loss to the Cougars back on March 22 and improved to 6-3 in league match play.  Eight of the nine lines were very closely contested, but the 4-4 tie was decided by the #3 doubles match.  Kaya Hoeberechts and Riley Bonner dealt the final blow with a 10-4 super tiebreaker win with both squads watching and cheering intensely.

Other highlights include very tight matches won by Nick Owens and doubles players Tyler Holder and Liam McGlynn.  Ace Reeder and doubles partners Matthew Muren and Aaron Brown closed their straight-set wins out with a 6-1 second set.  The boys faced very windy and cold conditions and the chance of rain, but they stayed focused and were clutch when needed.  This was a well-deserved win.
Many of our team’s family members were again on site.  I can never say thank you enough for the support.  Another reminder that at our last home match on April 26, the team will be recognizing our seniors who will be playing in their last league match.  We have three: Tyler Holder, Liam McGlynn, and Matthew Muren. We’re hoping you can attend to congratulate them. Go Dons!
