The Lady Dons outlasted a solid and well coached Alameda squad by a score of 53 to 42 to advance to the NCS D2 Title game. After a back-and-forth 1st quarter which ended with Alameda in the lead, the Lady Dons exploded in the 2nd quarter behind relentless full court pressure. The half time lead was 12, but Alameda quickly came back, getting as close as one point. Finally, the Lady Dons assumed control in the fourth behind timely 3-pointers from Sophie Chinn, Karyss Lacanlale, Jenna Steele and Natalie Frechman. Without question freshmen Sophie Chinn was a woman among girls all night scoring 22 points and guarding and containing Alameda’s best player (senior) who happens to be going to play college on a full hoops scholarship. Karyss Lacanlale had 10, Emily Du added 8 and Dulci Vail scored 7. The girls play Friday night at home for the D2 Title against Northgate! Go Dons!
