It was a cold, windy evening on the baseball field of Northgate. Broncos felt warm on their home turf. Yet, the Dons never warmed up to win, losing 4 to 9
Acalanes Dons JV got things moving in the second inning, when Tyler Worthington grounded out, scoring Sammy Lee. In the bottom of the second inning, Northgate tied things up at one. In the third inning, Sammy Lee was behind the plate had an incredible throw, way ahead of the runner to get him out at third base. However, Northgate pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning.
The Dons put up three runs in the seventh inning. Miller Smith hit a deep single to center. The Broncos pitcher walked a few Dons, loading up the bases and waking in one run. Sammy Lee hits a clean single to left field, knocking in Aidan Beers and Mason Michlitsch in the last inning of the game. But it was not enough to catch up to the Broncos.
Kyle Bielawski started the game for Acalanes. The righthander allowed two hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Gavin Bender, Jake Boselli, and Ellis Burger each contributed in relief for Acalanes. Sammy Lee, Mason Michlitsch, and Henry Souza each had one hit. Miller Smith led the Dons with two hits in two at bats with a double and single. Runs scored by Sammy Lee, Miller Smith, Aidan Beers and Mason Michlitsch.
The JV Dons head to Concord on Saturday, Game time 11am.
