The Varsity Girls Tennis had a great day in the DAL Tournament on Tuesday at Northgate high school, taking on opponents from a number of different local schools including Northgate, Miramonte, Campolindo, Las Lomas, and College Park in a single elimination single pro-set style tournament. Four of our doubles teams advanced to the second round:  Riley Zirkel and Alessa Smith, Carissa Penn and Averly Ammerman, Sadie Moise and Grace Colaco, and Livvy Lewis and Delphine Fisher.  Liza Sokolova was the only Acalanes singles player to advance to the second round, after she defeated a player from Campolindo.  She fell in the second round to the #2 singles player from Campolindo.

Carissa and Averly played an exciting second round match against a tough team from Miramonte, and came out with an 8-5 win to advance to the quarterfinals.  In the quarterfinals, they had to face the number one seed of the entire tournament who were line one players from Miramonte.  They lost the first set 6-0, and then made an awesome comeback in set two, but ultimately lost the set 7-5.
