The pool looked incredible for the Acalanes Dons on Senior Night. The Fat Heads were hung on the fence along with great gifts for our two seniors, Adelyn Horciza and Finley Graff. Redwood High School was the opponent and the girls played their game before the Senior Ceremony with the Acalanes boys seniors.

The Dons were ready to go and easily won the first sprint. Junior Malin Stone sent a gorgeous pass into senior Finley Graff who sent the ball to the back of the net. On the next play, Malin found junior Lily Briones who had a great shot for goal #2. Senior goalie, Adelyn Horciza, was making great blocks in the cage and before the end of the game, Finley Graff had two more goals to end the quarter with a 4-0 lead.

Quarter two started with Redwood taking the sprint but they were unable to convert and Malin Stone found Finley Graff who stuck the ball in the twine for another tally. Sophomore Lucy Kerr got the ball next and made a great pass to fellow sophomore, Anika Rehn, to give the Dons a 6-0 lead. Redwood was able to get the ball down to their cage, but Adelyn Horciza wasn’t letting anything by. Malin Stone snagged the ball and walked it in for the next Acalanes goal. The next block was followed by a steal by Adelyn Horciza and a great pass to Lily Briones who powered up to the Redwood goalie and scored her second of the game. Sophomore Jayna Guiro was the next Don to score with a great shot from the right side. Redwood was able to get one into the cage right before the first half ended for a score of 9-1.

The second half started with Acalanes winning the sprint and a goal from set by Finley Graff. Malin Stone had a great steal and pass down to Lily Briones who scored a hat trick. Anika Rehn had great defense on the next play, but Redwood was able to get the ball around and find the back of the net for the second goal of the game. A joint steal by Malin and Finley led to a great outside shot by Finley. Junior goalie, Lucy McShane continued to make great blocks so Redwood was unable to score the rest of the quarter.

The final quarter started with a speedy Redwood sprint and a goal! The Dons matched that with a great goal by Jayna Guiro. On the next play, Acalanes pushed the ball under for the turnover and junior Lily Teicher sent a great pass to sophomore Maddy Maurer who scored. Lily Teicher was on fire with a quick steal on the next play and a pass to sophomore Elinor Chen who scored to bring the score 15-3. Lucy blocked the remaining attempts by Redwood, but Acalanes DONimated this Senior Night game from start to finish.
