On a picture perfect day with beautiful hills in the background, the Dons traveled to Walnut Creek on Thursday to take on Northgate High School. The ample number of courts allowed all the girls, including the extended matches, to play at the same time. The girls fought hard but ultimately lost 8-1, with the lone victory coming at Line 3 doubles with Carissa Penn and Maddie Obertello making a great comeback in the second set, and winning the 3rd set tiebreaker 11-9
On the singles side, Liza Sokolova lost 6-3, 6-2 at Line 1, Audrey Tseng lost 6-0, 6-0 at Line 2, Jasmine Taylor lost 6-1, 6-4 at Line 3, Emery Stern lost 6-2, 6-1 at Line 4, Louie Kubas lost 6-0, 6-1 at Line 5, and Alessa Smith lost 6-2, 6-1 at Line 6. On the doubles side, Grace Colaco and Sadie Moise lost 7-5, 6-0 at Line 1, Riley Zirkel and Hetty Lofting split sets but unfortunately lost the tiebreaker with a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) at Line 2, and Carissa Penn and Maddie Obertello won 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) at Line 3. In the extended matches, Delphine Fisher and Livvy Lewis won 8-3, and Gemma Satterfield and Lotta Griemens lost 8-3.
The team returns home to take on rival Campolindo on Thursday, September 17th @ 4pm
