Opening their season’s league play at home on Tuesday evening, the Acalanes JV Boys basketball team was overwhelmed by Miramonte High School from virtually start to finish and ultimately came away with a disappointing 70 to 52 loss. After hanging relatively close throughout the first quarter, Acalanes eventually went into the halftime break down by 11, 37 -28. Unfortunately for the Dons, Miramonte turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter, pushing its lead to nearly 30 points before the Dons began chipping away that margin early in the 4th quarter. A valiant effort saw the Dons trim the differential to 16, but no closer. Reflecting the evening long challenge the Dons faced in scoring, no player finished in double-digits for the team. Leading scorers for the Dons were Taran Krishnan and Yanaton Draznin with 9 points each while Nate Cheslog and Donovan Aris-Dumas added 8 and 7 points, respectively. The JV Boys next play at Clayton Valley Charter High School on Friday at 5:30 pm.
