The 2026 Acalanes Women’s water polo started the year off with some fun scrimmages last weekend at Monte Vista High School. The Dons were ready for their 8am game against the Carondelet Cougars. The Cougs came out strong, but sophomore Elinor Chen earned her first hat trick of the season to get the Dons on the board. The teams battled the whole game but the Dons came up a few goals short at the final buzzer losting 10-8! 

Next up, the Washington High School Huskies were not match for the Dons. Acalanes found the back of the net 11 times and senior Adelyn Horciza refused to let anything in her cage giving the Dons an 11-0 win.  The final game of the day was against Archie Williams. Not sure what super energy was in the lunchtime Jambas but the Dons came out firing as a squad and 9 of the 14 Dons scored goals! Junior goalie Lucy McShane, fresh of the SATs, was a blocking machine to give the girls an 18-2 win. Not a bad way to start the 2026 season!

On Wednesday, the Acalanes Dons headed to Marin to face the Archie Williams Falcons once again. It took less than 30 seconds to get the Dons on the scoreboard with a solid goal from junior Malin Stone. The Falcons tried to regroup, but sophomore Jayne Guiro was a stealing machine and snagged every ball she could to give the Dons the advantage. The quarter continued with another goal from from junior Lily Briones and another from Malin.  Q2 started with a strong showing from sophomore Anika Rehn and senior Finley Graff who kept the scoreboard ticking up. In the third quarter, freshman Althea Topp scored her first Acalanes goal to bring the total to 10-3! The final quarter was full of earned exclusions and steals and two more goals from Malin to give the Dons a strong 14-5 victory!
