Welcome to the Varsity Girls Tennis 2026 Season! Last season, the team finished 4th in the DAL Foothill Division with a record of 4-6 and an overall record of 7-7. The were defeated by Irvington High School in the first round of the NCS playoffs. Although the team graduated two Second Team All DAL Foothill Division doubles players (Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel) and one Honorable Mention singles player (Aamena Shipchandler), there is reason for optimism this year as Second Team singles player Liza Sokolova returned, along with a mix of talented senior doubles players and younger singles players.
The Season got off to a good start Tuesday as the Dons cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Carondelet Cougars. On the singles side, Liza Sokolova won 6-4, 6-3 at Line 1, Audrey Tseng won 6-1, 6-0 at Line 2, Jasmine Taylor won 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4 in the third set tiebreaker) at Line 3, Averly Ammerman won 6-1, 6-2 at Line 4, Emery Stern won 6-1, 6-1 at Line 5, and Louie Kubas won 6-1, 6-0 at Line 6. Jasmine was named player of the match after winning her marathon match.
On the doubles side, Sadie Moise and co-captain Grace Colaco, playing her first high school doubles match, won 7-6, 6-3 at Line 1, co-captains Hetty Lofting and Riley Zirkel won 6-3, 6-0 at Line 2, and Maddie Obertello and Tatum Duff won 6-3, 6-2 at Line 3. In the extended doubles match, Olivia Lewis and Delphine Fisher won 8-4.

I wanted to end with a few shout-outs. First, I wanted to give a huge shout-out to our returning coaches Sharon Langtry and Kathy Simon. I also wanted to acknowledge Alyson Moise for being our team parent and hosting our kick-off dinner, Jen Stern for being our Booster Rep, and Jackie Zirkel for being team photographer. Go Dons!
